Performance Genomics Inc. (PGI) is developing and commercializing reproductive technology products that have application in the agricultural, human services and pharmaceutical sectors worldwide. PGI’s research has identified genes that are being used to develop proprietary products related to herd life and fertility of livestock. The company will introduce its first product, a DNA-based test to predict herd life, early in 2011. This test consists of individual DNA markers that are combined in a panel that identifies individuals carrying favourable genetic variants of specific genes that together are indicative of extended herd life and improved fertility.
