Christmas tree Research Centre (CRC)
Christmas tree and greenery are close to a billion $ global industry. Christmas trees are the known as “the lungs of the planet Earth”, silently sequestering carbon dioxide and generating the life supporting “oxygen” molecules.
Christmas tree Research Centre (CRC) is the first Canadian centre for research on Christmas trees to meet the Research and Development needs of the Christmas tree and greenery industries discovering new products, technologies and services. The CRC focuses on Balsam fir, which is the most popular Christmas tree of the Atlantic Canada. CRC’s research themes are directed towards developing science-driven innovative products and technologies. CRC is governed by the Atlantic Canada Christmas tree Research and Development Consortium.
CRC is established in partnership with NSAC, Christmas Tree Council of Nova Scotia (CTCNS), SMART Christmas tree Research Cooperative, Christmas tree producers of Atlantic Canada, Provincial Departments Agriculture, Natural Resources in NS, NB, NL, University of New Brunswick. This initiative is funded by Atlantic Innovation Fund, NSERC, ACAAF (AgriFutures), NB Growing Forward, CTCNS, Smart Christmas tree Research Cooperative, provincial Departments of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Newfoundland.
The Centre’s vision is to sustain and generate Rural Biowealth through science driven innovative products and technologies.
